Mike made it into the left lane and decided that it would definitely be the "fast lane" today. Seeing a relatively clear road ahead, he sped up to 75 mph and zipped down the freeway. This is more like it, Mike thought as he sailed under a bridge – failing to notice the police officer parked on his motorcycle in the shadows positioning a radar gun right at Mike. Mike's attention turned all too soon, as the officer rushed up behind him with flashing lights. "Great!" Mike shouted. "What else can go wrong today?" He made a shrugging gesture and began weaving over to the right-hand shoulder. Finally he pulled over. The officer got off his motorcycle, and stood for a moment talking into his radio. "Unbelievable," Mike muttered. First Ryan back-talking, then being late for work, and now this. There just wasn't a lie he could think of that would be good enough for his boss now. |
