Traffic School & Defensive Driving

Jack hung up and put his key in the ignition. With the relief of his presentation being postponed, he shook his head as he thought about how irrational it was to be angry at a guy like Alex. He took a deep breath and rolled his shoulders and neck to help relieve the stress. Besides, his driving record was clean and he intended to keep it that way. Jack started the car, took a good look around, and backed out carefully.

About halfway back to campus, Jack came upon an accident on a side street. It was an intersection crash, and it was obvious that one driver hadn't been careful enough making an unprotected left turn, and another could not avoid hitting the first in the passenger side. Jack was glad to see that both drivers were out of their cars examining the damage. A girl about his age was the driver who'd made the left turn; she looked shaken up and was obviously crying. The other driver, a professional-looking woman in her 40s, looking a little shaky as well, was obviously telling the girl not to worry. Jack saw that both cars had sustained some damage, but what was truly important was that no one was injured. The older woman had been alert enough to brake quickly and avoid a higher-speed impact.
