Soon, Jack was glad he'd backed off. He watched as the teen sped up to follow closely behind a helmeted motorcycle rider; the young driver couldn't be more than 15 feet behind the bike. Jack briefly remembered something from driver's ed about staying further behind motorcycles than cars; one unfortunate move, and the young driver would run right over the rider. Fortunately, the rider had everything under control; Jack watched as he checked his mirrors and the other lane, signaled that he was changing lanes, and moved easily into a clear right lane. The teen sped away and was quickly out of sight.
Jack shook his head, crossing his fingers that the boy wouldn't hurt himself or anyone else being reckless, but stayed calm. Maybe the stars are stacked against me today, Jack thought, but no one is going to get to me. He went on his way and got to the office at 8:00 - right on time.
