Melissa wasn't surprised to find crowds of cars on the freeway – but she was surprised at how slowly everyone was moving. She heaved a frustrated sigh and slipped quickly around first one car, then another, never signaling and ignoring honking as she cut other drivers off. They should be moving faster, she thought, shrugging. It's their own fault. Finally she reached the restaurant. Melissa turned sharply and gasped in surprise as she ran both passenger wheels over the curb. I hope there aren't any cops around, she thought. That's just what I need! Seeing no police cars, Melissa shook off her surprise and whipped into a parking space, only five minutes late.

She rushed inside to find Andy already seated. He greeted her with a quick kiss and immediately poured her first glass of wine, which Melissa accepted gratefully. She settled in to tell Andy about her week; it wasn't until two more glasses of wine that she finished talking.

Melissa was surprised it had gotten so late when she and Andy finally left the restaurant; only then did she check her watch to discover that it was 9:30. She'd spent so much time letting off steam. Her eyes felt heavy, but she ignored that until Andy spoke up.

"You look sleepy," he said. "Are you sure you'll be all right to drive?"

Melissa smiled. "I'll be fine," she replied. "But I do think I should get home and get some...sleep," she added, blinking slowly.
